The Little Haiti Optimist Club is a non-profit organization established in 2010 by a group of business, community and civic leaders to provide assistance, guidance and programs to the youth of Little Haiti surrounding areas.

Our goal is to be the premier organization providing programs to prepare the youth of Little Haiti for academic and life excellence. The organization is affiliated with the International Optimist www.optimist.org, an association of more than 3,000 Optimist Clubs around the world dedicated to “Bringing Out the Best in Kids”.

The Community We Serve

Little Haiti is a vibrant, culturally rich community, while many young people continue to face barriers related to educational resources, enrichment opportunities, economic hardship, wellness, and community safety. LHOF helps bridge these gaps by providing safe, structured, culturally responsive programs where youth can learn, grow, and build confidence.

  • Serve more youth and adults each year.
  • Expand programs and services to create a greater impact on students, families, and the community.
  • Support academic achievement by reinforcing classroom learning through after-school enrichment, tutoring, and other educational services.
  • Increase the number of LHOC students meeting state academic and promotional standards.
  • Provide positive alternatives that help reduce juvenile delinquency, gun violence, poor academic performance, teen pregnancy, and gang involvement.
  • Give young people from underserved communities access to experiences that broaden their horizons and strengthen their belief in what is possible for their future.
  • Encourage creativity, innovation, leadership, and lifelong learning as pathways to a stronger and more prosperous future.
